The Bleeding Tree

About the show

Three women stand over a body. What just happened?

Set in a parched outback town, The Bleeding Tree begins with a gunshot. A mother and her daughters have killed the man who terrorised them, and now they grapple with fear, guilt and something that feels uncomfortably like relief, while the town looks the other way. By turns brutal, lyrical and darkly funny, this searing revenge tale reimagines Australian gothic through a fierce, contemporary lens. Hailed as one of the most important Australian plays of the decade, it has won major national awards and toured widely since its premiere at Griffin Theatre Company.

A landmark Australian play, strikingly staged. Don’t look away.
