Learning
NIDA students benefit from Australia’s most prestigious and acclaimed arts training. We aim to guide each student to realise their full potential, with our teaching staff bringing their wealth of industry experience to the fore. We instil our students with the passion and confidence to become Australia’s next global creative leaders.
Not every course at NIDA requires you to audition or be interviewed. At NIDA Open, we offer short courses or weekend workshops that are an opportunity to be challenged and inspired, and to explore your individual creativity. NIDA Open is for students of all ages and abilities and promotes the development of collaboration, confidence, teamwork and interpersonal skills to nurture creativity and unlock potential.
Fostering Creativity
NIDA is a space for students to develop their creative skills. In order to be a creative leader, we believe you must understand all aspects of bringing your artistic vision to life for an audience. Our training balances the academic with the practical, so that all learning can be put into practice.
Our courses provide an immersive experience, with students creating, performing and staging full-scale productions. Our students work together with local and international guest artists to develop theatre productions, site-specific events and exhibitions. We are committed to providing courses that allow students to develop their creative versatility.
Innovation
NIDA graduate students have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow students, alumni, industry leaders and creative partners on new projects. We support students expanding their creative vision to explore new innovative ways of creating work and engaging audiences.
Our graduates contribute vibrancy to Australian and international arts and entertainment whether it’s on stage, on screen, or at major cultural events. We aim to give them the courage and skills to develop new ways to share stories with audiences around the world.
Industry
NIDA provides one-of-a-kind opportunities for students to get their work in front of industry leaders, professionals and new audiences.
Each year, we invite Australian and international guest artists, directors, writers and other professionals to share their industry expertise with our students and enrich their creative experience.
Working with these artists as well as visiting lecturers and tutors, students develop a detailed understanding of contemporary arts practice from an industry perspective.
NIDA also gives students access to industry and networking opportunities that will help transition them into successful careers.
Sustainability
NIDA is setting out to become a leading sustainability educator in the creative and cultural industries.
