Joey (they/he) is an emerging performance designer whose practice explores opportunities for genuine, emotional human connections in a theatrical setting. They aspire for their work to be mesmerising yet unconventional and unsettling. Joey’s design process is inspired by queer dramaturgy, human nature and the Sisyphean dirge of politics pixel-pumped into the ether.
They have a passion for dimly lit rooms (so relaxing), taxidermy, intuitively administered journaling, admiring old buildings and hanging out with friends and found family.
After an industry placement on a feature film, Joey has also found passions in Set Dec, Props Manufacturing and Designing for film. Once graduating NIDA they hope to design and collaborate instorytelling experiences for stage, screen, interactive and embodied formats.
