Paige Astrophel

Raised between the creative pulse of Sydney’s Inner West and the misty stillness of the Blue Mountains, Paige found her way to musical theatre through a well-worn DVD copy of The Sound of Music, watched religiously with her grandmother every school holidays. A gateway to Phantom of the Opera, and then Wicked in 2009, the experience lit a fire that hasn’t dimmed since.

Alongside her performance training, she holds a degree in psychology, has worked as a youth and peer worker in mental health, and even deferred her Master of Social Work to follow the siren call of musical theatre. Her work in advocacy and peer support has instilled in her a deep respect for people’s stories — the way they’re told, held, and shared — a sensibility that flows directly into her artistic practice.

While at NIDA, Paige performed in the 2025 Diploma of Musical Theatre Showcase directed by Darren Yap and joined the ensemble of Nine, directed by Dean Drieberg. She dreams of combining storytelling, song, and social impact — but if that doesn’t work out, she’ll settle for starring in a horror film and screaming her way to the top.
