Liz Burton

Liz Burton has a BA from University of Newcastle (Drama major). After moving to Sydney in 1988, Liz stage/production managed many shows at the New Theatre Newtown and was also appointed a position on the Management Committee.

As the General Manager of Actors Centre Australia, Surry Hills (1991-1999) along with Dean Carey as Managing Director, Liz helped to establish the Centre as one of Australia’s leading actor training facilities.

Liz has produced many independent theatre shows and helped to establish numerous independent theatre groups in Sydney including Burning House Theatre Company (with Richard Roxburgh & Justin Monjo), Tamarama Rock Surfers (with Jeremy Cumpston), East Coast Theatre Company (with Joseph Uchitel), and Cumulus Productions (with Elaine Hudson and Kevin Jackson).

Liz’s film production company BONAFIDE PICTURES (est. 2010) with Serhat Caradee after the critical success of ‘Cedar Boys’ has developed 4 feature films and ‘A Lion Returns’, released theatrically in 2020, is now available to view on STAN.

Liz joined NIDA in August 2023 on a casual position to assist with the 2024 curriculum renewal and in May 2024 was appointed to the role of Admissions and Scholarship Officer.
