Kate Rankine is a writer and educator originally from Canberra. She holds a Bachelor of Primary Education (Creative Arts) from the University of Canberra and was a teacher in Canberra from 2019 to 2022.
Kate moved to New York City in the fall of 2022 to pursue her MFA in Musical Theatre Writing at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. In the three years, she was living and working as an artist in NYC, Kate’s work was performed at various Off-Broadway venues such as 54 Below, The GreenRoom 42, and Joe’s Pub.
Since returning to Australia in 2025 and starting at NIDA in 2026, Kate is excited to use her knowledge and skills gained in the US to support the ever-growing Australian theatre scene, while also continuing to explore her passion for supporting students and their individual needs.
