Josie Armstrong is a 19-year-old performer currently studying the Diploma of Musical Theatre at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA).
Raised in the coastal town of Coffs Harbour, Josie’s love of performance began through community theatre and a family immersed in music. Inspired by a grandfather who was rarely seen without a guitar in hand or a song on his lips while cooking, she developed an early appreciation for storytelling, music and the joy of entertaining others.
From the age of 10, Josie spent countless hours on stage, discovering the excitement of stepping into different characters and bringing stories to life through performance. It was during these formative years that she fell in love with the unique ability of musical theatre to connect people through song, emotion and shared experience.
Her passion for the arts has taken her well beyond her hometown, including to the United States, where she performed the role of Cady Heron in Mean Girls Jr. as part of the Aussie All Stars program, collaborating with young performers from around the world. The experience further strengthened her commitment to pursuing a career in musical theatre and broadened her perspective as a performer.
Since then, Josie has embraced every opportunity to develop her skills in acting, singing and dance. Curious, dedicated and enthusiastic about the creative process, she continues to approach her training with a sense of adventure, embracing the excitement, challenges and occasional chaos that come with a life in the performing arts.
