Jessie Spencer is a graduate of NIDA, having completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Properties and Objects. Prior to this, she studied at UNSW Art & Design and has completed a Cert. IV in Furniture Design and Manufacturing, as well as a Master’s in Arts and Cultural Management from the University of Melbourne.
Jessie has worked across theatre, screen and architecture in both design and making capacities. She has experience in various art department roles across screen, working as a draftsperson on TVCs, including Fumble and In the Dark for Apple; she was also contracted as Set Designer on S1 and S2 of Heartbreak High. In architecture, Jessie has assisted on digital design work, as well as physical models and maquettes for various projects including JCDecaux Public Infrastructure, Martin Place Metro Station and the Opera Residencies.
Within the Props and Effects course, Jessie teaches foundational woodwork, furniture design and making, as well as digital modelling. In addition, she tutors across the ideation, project management and realisation of first year projects and works closely with the third-year students on their Independent Research Projects
