Annidette Puni

Annidette Puni is a Proud Polynesian and First Nations woman, born in American Samoa and raised on Awabakal country. She is a trained screenwriter and aspiring playwright, whose stories explore the woman of colour experience and the marginalised of society. She played the flute and piano in primary school and successfully auditioned to study Dance (and Music as a minor) at HSPA (Newcastle, NSW) where she later studied Drama as a Senior.

Her passion for storytelling propelled her to study both NIDA’s TV Presenters Studio (2014) and Screen Acting Ensemble (2015), later graduating with a Bachelor of Communication (Creative Writing) degree from UTS and an Advanced Diploma in Screenwriting (TV Series) from AFTRS.

Annidette’s screenwriting debut short film, KEYS (2019) had its world premiere at the Topanga Film Festival (California, USA), won a best children’s short award at Indie Short Fest (Los Angeles, USA), screened at various film festivals in the United States and Australia and won the Spirit of Sydney award at the Sydney Indie Film Festival (2019). Annidette was also nominated in the Best Actress category at the 2019 Revolution Me Film Festival (Brooklyn, NY) where the film’s Director won the Best First-Time Filmmaker award. Annidette is currently undertaking NIDA’s Master of Fine Arts (Dramatic Writing) course and is looking forward to creating more stories for the Screen and Stage.
