With her remarkable talent and stellar performance, Sophie Wilde (BFA Acting, 2019), has been hailed as one of the most exciting and promising emerging talents in the world of acting. Her highly anticipated first feature film debut, The Portable Door has captivated audiences and critics alike, showcasing her exceptional skills and unwavering passion for the craft.

As she takes on the role of Sophie Pettingel, Sophie Wilde’s portrayal is a testament to her training and dedication to her craft. Congratulations are in order for this budding star, whose achievements continue to solidify her status as a rising force in the realm of acting.

Connecting with Sophie (the character) required her (the actor) to draw on a variety of aspects of herself:

‘She reminds me of a facet of myself which is quite neurotic at times and super ambitious. She reminds me a lot of who I was in high school, which is the kind of person that’s like, “I need to get straight A’s.” I love that she’s ambitious and she knows what she wants. She has high aspirations and I think that’s quite inspiring. She’s a hard worker but she also has the capacity to be quite empathetic, that capacity for love…I think she’s a beautiful person, I absolutely love her.’

Sophie says The Portable Door is ‘a love story at its heart. It’s about love and magic and these two people coming up in the world. It’s kind of a coming-of-age story, we’re both young professionals and it’s about finding yourself in the world and finding what your values and what your morals are and the kind of person you want to be and what you want to sacrifice for that.’
