The NIDA Graduate Showcase for the Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting students is a highly anticipated annual event for industry guests and friends. The Showcase attracts Australian and international agents, casting directors, theatre producers, along with film and television executives who all come to see the NIDA actor final performances on stage and screen showreels in a packed Parade theatre. This is followed by a meet and mingle with the graduating Actors at a post-showcase reception in the NIDA foyer.
Head of Acting John Bashford said: ‘This year’s Acting cohort have remained resourceful and resilient during their actor training, each has emerged with their own skillset ready to become future facing creatives. This year alone they have successfully completed a range of projects to expand their practice including shooting their showreels on locations, created their own short films and theatrical work across to public production seasons, and collaborated with teachers, directors and industry professionals.’
NIDA’s CEO Liz Hughes said: ‘This year’s exceptional ensemble of 21 Actors have mastered their craft though intensive practice-based learning and collaboration all guided by the highly skilled Acting faculty. Having already shown outstanding agility and innovation during their three-year degree we can’t wait to see their success as they enter an ever-changing industry.’
The showcase was once again directed by multi-award-winning theatre director and NIDA Alumna Nigel Turner-Carroll along with Emmy award-winning and global content producers and directors Matt Zeremes and Guy Edmonds who produced the cohort showreels.
