NIDA welcomed many key supporters, the 2023 scholarship students and their families, NIDA staff and board members to the main foyer to meet and mingle before an official presentation ceremony in The Playhouse.

The presentation was hosted by NIDA’s Deputy Director of Learning and Innovation Mark Gaal, with NIDA’s Elder In-Residence Matthew Doyle welcoming guests to country, followed by speeches from NIDA Chairman Noel Staunton, Chairman of the NIDA Foundation Trust and board member Peter Ivany AO and NIDA CEO Liz Hughes.

The Future Student Scholarships make up one part of the Scholarship program at NIDA which is dedicated to supporting students and making education in the arts more accessible.

“The scholarship program at NIDA has been growing each year, and in 2023, we will see a commitment of over $900,000 to students distributed across 110 scholarships”, said Peter Ivany AO. “We are grateful for the kindness of our supporters, for their belief and investment in our students and their futures in the performing arts industry.”

Tim Fairfax AC spoke on behalf of supporters, and it was a treat for guests as he discussed his personal connection to NIDA and explained why donating to NIDA means so much to him. While two previous YouTube Scholarship recipients, Michiru Encinas and Bakri Mohamed, shared their experiences at NIDA and the benefits of receiving a scholarship.
