About the project
Drau Ni Uto Hotel is a contemporary song cycle blending XR and live performance to explore digital colonialism in Fiji. Set in a speculative universe, the story follows Kali, a young woman trapped in a virtual resort simulation, whose voice becomes the key to reclaiming her body and land.
Drau Ni Uto Hotel was presented as a segment of the song cycle performance with pre-recorded digital simulation on 10 February 2026 in NIDA’s Studio Theatre, followed by a Q&A. While the songs and narrative development was substantial, the XR integration remained at an early experimental stage.
