About Alex
Alex Makaronopoulos is a theatre practitioner with a passion for lighting. When he moved to Sydney, more than six years ago, he started working as a casual technician in theatres. After his first experiences, Alex realised he needed to gain knowledge and learn about theatre in general, as well as theatre lighting. The completion of the Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services at NIDA was only the beginning and after working as a lighting technician for major companies such as Opera Australia, he decided to further develop and sharpen his knowledge in lighting and production management.
During his first year in the BFA course at NIDA, Alex found that he also likes lighting programming and he always tries to make the most out of this function. Alex is looking forward to finding bigger challenges in the entertainment industry and continuing to learn and grow.
