Samuel Moynihan

Sam is a Canberra based theatre-maker, director and performer with a particular interest in creating works with and for young people. He has worked with a variety of theatre companies in the ACT and independently. He runs his own blog detailing his experiences living with MS and appears at various events to support young people with chronic illnesses.
Sam is a firm believer in the power of storytelling to transform and inspire; values that align themselves well with his current work as a creative team member for Mind Blank Ltd. The company performs at schools across the country, engaging young people in conversations about mental health through forum theatre. He is currently developing the company’s first piece of scripted theatre to be performed in 2019. He also works for Rebus Theatre, a company that provides diversity training to government workplaces, also using the forum theatre model. He looks forward to establishing his own theatre in education company one day.
Sam is also on the executive board for Playing Field, an organisation that provides emerging artists with inexpensive venue hire and residency opportunities. In 2018, he completed an industry placement with the Freedom Theatre, Palestine on their European tour as well as at their headquarters in Jenin. A strong example of Sam’s values, the company utilises theatre workshops and performances to assist people in overcoming trauma and establishing a sense of identity. He hopes to expand his knowledge in storytelling and further his passion for creating social dialogues and assisting young people to navigate life.
