Ella grew up in the UK, and after moving to Australia she completed a Special Effects Makeup diploma at ACMUSE. This led her to later work for a small puppet and props making company, where she was introduced into the world of costume. After taking some time out to travel, Ella completed a Cert IV of Design Fundamentals at Design Centre Enmore. It was after this that she began her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Costume) journey at NIDA.
While at NIDA, Ella has excelled at fabric dying, breaking down and art finishing garments. She has found a significant interest in the area where costume making techniques and props skills are used together to create a finished product. This was further investigated in Ellaʼs final year Research Project, where she created a full-scale, foam fabricated monster shell, using skills learned during her work placement at Creature Technology in Melbourne earlier in the year.
Ella hopes to continue working in the costume/props area, where she can further develop her skillset.
