Charles Wu

Charles grew up and spent 12 years in Singapore, regularly visiting China and most of his extended family who still live there. Upon moving to Perth, he performed plays in school then went on to do the same at Curtin University, enjoying the rich culture of student theatre in acting, directing and production. Charles also enjoyed a short stint as a stand-up comic, laughing along with his uni friends in local Perth pubs.

In 2013, Charles performed in Swap, a Roman Ondák art exhibit which called for participants to engage in an ongoing exchange of intriguing personal objects, facilitated by a performer sitting behind a desk in an otherwise empty room. Charles also did voiceover work for The Hungry Ghost, a 3D binaural sound app, designed to be experienced whilst following a path through Surry Hills, directed by NIDA grad Susanna Dowling as part of the 2014 Art and About Festival.

Charles is an avid musician and continues to perform and record. He released his first album as Apartments on Bandcamp this year and can be seen busking all around Sydney with his guitar.
