NIDA X

Inventing New Storytelling Futures

Supported by the Girgensohn Foundation.

Applications close on Wednesday 10 April 2024.

Grants of up to $15,000 are being offered to NIDA Alumni, or groups led by NIDA Alumni, for projects that push the boundaries of storytelling and technology.

NIDA X aims to identify and support projects in which artists and technologists explore and help create the future of storytelling. These new, live entertainment experiences can be of any length and engage with any number of technologies. They might involve unexpected uses of old technology, or harness new technologies. They might combine physical locations with augmented reality, lean into AI, ramp up the robots, or utilize screen-based or more frameless, immersive experiences. They might result in a finished experience or be the prototype for a larger exploration.

Too often artists follow in the footsteps of technological innovation. This is an opportunity for artists to lead it.

Up to three projects will be awarded up to $15,000, tech mentorship from those who specialise in the field, and access to facilities and technological support from NIDA where applicable and available. Please refer to milestone dates as an indication of timeline expectations.
