NIDA acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we learn and tell stories, the Bidjigal people. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

We also wish to acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across this country's sacred homelands, and in particular, students and other First Nations members of the NIDA community.

Karilyn Brown (Course Leader Cultural Leadership)

Karilyn BrownKarilyn has headed up the MFA in Cultural Leadership at the National Institute of the Dramatic Arts since January 2019.  Her previous roles have included CEO of Performing Lines, General Manager of the International Federation of Arts Councils and Culture, senior executive roles at the Australia Council for the Arts, Program Manager for the 1997-2000 Sydney Olympic Arts Festivals and Paralympic Arts Festival programs and Manager, Cultural Policy at the City of Sydney.

Karilyn has worked with a number of artist-run-initiatives and organisations, and her board memberships have included ArtBank, Object Contemporary Design Centre, Artspace, Stalker Theatre Company, and Chair of the Australian Performing Arts Touring Alliance.  She is currently a member of the Contemporary Asian Australian Performance committee.

Karilyn is a keen advocate for contemporary and experimental arts practice, the small to medium independent arts sector, and international collaborations and exchange.
