Conversations & Connections

NIDA Future Centre invites those working at the intersection of dramatic arts, culture & technology to share, educate and engage with our community.

NIDA Future Centre recently hosted its inaugural Future Forms event, a new salon celebrating works and ideas that push the boundaries of technology and performance.

Curated by director and alum Mark Bolotin and held in NIDA’s Space Theatre, Future Forms hosted live demonstrations and conversations with artists using a salon-style platform to share their work and experiment with an audience.

A person with shoulder-length dark hair, wearing a white jacket and colourful scarf, stands at a podium speaking into a microphone on a dimly lit stage, smiling warmly.

The NIDA Future Centre hosted Tea Uglow, a Peabody-winning co-founder of Dark Swan and Google Creative Labs in both Sydney and London. Tea is a renowned expert in exploring future trends and the intersection of culture and digital technology.

She shared her insights on innovation and technology from the perspective of a creative practitioner. Reflecting on the growth of the internet and tech within culture, she discussed what we should—and shouldn’t—worry about when it comes to AI. Tea also explored how to embrace the endless possibilities we have to create new and exciting forms of dramatic art.
