Travis Cardona has over 15 years of experience in the arts and media industry, dedicated to promoting and showcasing the talents, stories, and voices of First Nations people throughout Australia.
As the Director of First Nations & Outreach at NIDA, Travis leads strategic initiatives to engage with First Nations & underrepresented creatives, organizations, alumni, communities, and prospective students nationwide. His role focuses on advancing NIDA’s mission of excellence in performing arts education while fostering a culturally safe environment and inclusive pathways for under represented peoples in the arts.
Travis brings extensive perspectives as a proud Malak-Malak First Nations arts and entertainment practitioner, a NIDA graduate, and a former NITV producer. Prior to joining NIDA in April 2023, Travis held roles as Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Indigenous Policy & Stakeholder Relations Advisor and Producer at National Indigenous Television (NITV). During his tenure, he produced impactful content that celebrated First Nations culture and achievements.
Travis also spearheaded social media and impact strategies to broaden NITV’s audience reach. Currently, he serves as a Board Member on the Theatre & Musical Theatre Artform Board for Create NSW for 2024-2025.
