Course Specific Application Requirements: Acting

This page outlines everything you need to complete your application for the Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting (BFACOS).

Application & Selection Process

The selection process takes place in two rounds:

Round 1: Online Application and Video Audition

Round 2: In-Person Recall Audition (shortlisted applicants only)

Online Application
Complete the online application form and upload all required documents, including your video audition.

About your Audition Video
Your audition video will need to include two contrasting monologues. All material must be submitted as one continuous video upload.

What to include:

Monologue 1: Modern/Contemporary Text
• Duration: approx. 2 minutes
• Framing: medium shot (waist up, with headroom)
• Text: contemporary or modern dramatic work (from the period of Anton Chekov early 1900s to present day)
• Language: may be performed in your cultural language
o Must also be prepared in English if requested at recall
• We suggest choosing a piece from this Monologue List.

Monologue 2: Heightened Text and Language Piece
• Duration: approx. 2 minutes
• Framing: long shot (full body in frame)
• Text: heightened language or verse monologue
• We suggest choosing a piece from this Monologue List.

Singing Actor Stream (additional)
If you are applying as a Singing Actor:

• One additional song of your choice
• Duration: approx. 60 seconds
• Unaccompanied (a cappella)
• May include opera or operetta repertoire

Original Work Requirement 
All submissions must comply with NIDA’s Original Work Requirement. This includes that all work must be your own and must not be generated or substantially developed using Artificial Intelligence.

Submission Requirements
Submit your audition video link and all required documents as part of your online application.

Audition Video Submission
• Upload your audition video to YouTube as Unlisted
• Submit one continuous video containing all required components
• Paste the video link into the Audition Video field in your application

Include the following in your YouTube video description:

• Full Name: [Your First Name, Your Last Name]
• Applicant Number: [Your Application Number]
• Course: BFA Acting – Audition

Video title format: lastname_firstname_BFAACT_2027_audition

Document Upload
Upload all required documents via the Associated File Attachments section of your online application.
• Upload each file separately in the relevant section

You must upload:
• Photo ID (select Photo ID)
• Most recent qualification evidence (select Most Recent Qualification Evidence)

File Naming Requirements
All files must follow the standard naming convention to ensure your application can be correctly identified and processed.

Format: lastname_firstname_BFAACT_2027_documenttype

Examples:
Proof of Identity: lastname_firstname_BFAACT_2027_photoid
Most Recent Qualification: lastname_firstname_BFAACT_2027_qualification

Outcome
All applications are reviewed after the closing date.
You will be notified by email of the outcome. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an in-person recall audition

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an in-person recall audition.

During recall, you may be asked to:

• Re-perform your Round 1 monologues
• Present an additional performance piece
• Participate in group or guided exercises
• Respond to direction from staff
• Additional preparation (stream-specific)

AND

Actor Stream
• Prepare a third acting piece of your choice

OR

Singing Actor Stream
• Prepare a song from the approved Song List.

Important: International students must attend recall auditions in-person in Australia.

Outcome
Final outcomes will be communicated via email following completion of recall auditions (early December).
Successful applicants will receive a formal offer to study.
