Jay Cairns (he/him) is a dedicated practitioner who is passionate about theatrical lighting, rigging, aquatics and stage management. He has a passion for creative problem solving, working in a team, and ultimately strives to support productions and those working on it.
Jay is in his final year studying Technical Theatre and Stage Management at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts. He holds an Advanced Rigging high-risk work license and is looking to complete his PADI SCUBA Instructor certification by the end of 2026.
Jay’s most recent work includes being the Head Electrician on Orpheus in the Underworld (NIDA, 2025), an Assistant Stage Manager on Stupid Fucking Bird (NIDA, 2024), the Deputy Stage Manager of No Particular Order (NIDA, 2025) and the Company Stage Manager for The Birds and The Red Shoes on Festival of Emerging Artists (NIDA, 2026).
Jay is excited to combine these skills into his interdisciplinary practice and explore the theatre industry with both a collaborative and enthusiastic approach.
