Ahunim Abebe

About Ahunim

Raised across two continents, Ahunim has always lived with stories of different lands and peoples flowing through her. Whether on Kaurna land in South Australia, or in her grandmother’s house in Ethiopia, Ahunim finds joy and meaning in storytelling. Indeed, this usually manifests itself in either spoken word, poetry or passionately reciting the scene between Lucy Pevensie and Mr. Tumnus when they first stumble across each other in Narnia.

In addition to acting, she is a committed social and environmental activist, following in the footsteps of her freedom-fighter parents. She has worked closely with the Socialist Alternative political group in Adelaide organising rallies, leading peaceful protests and interviewing with her local news stations.

As a proud Black woman, Ahunim speaks fluent Amharic as well as English, and finds great fulfillment in exploring the stories and experiences of her family and culture through all forms of theatre and performance.
