The 77th Annual Primetime Emmy and Creative Arts Emmy nominations have been announced, and NIDA is proud to celebrate four exceptional alumni recognised on these lists across Acting, Design and Directing. The Emmys honours excellence in artistry and technical merit in the television industry as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. This year, NIDA nominees include:
Cate Blanchett (Acting, 1992) nominated for Best Actress, Limited Series or TV Movie for Apple TV’s Disclaimer. This psychological thriller follows fictional documentary journalist, Catherine Ravenscroft, who receives a novel from an anonymous author that exposes a dark secret from her past.

Shannon Murphy (Directing, 2007) nominated for Directing a Limited Series/TV Movie for Hulu’s Dying for Sex, a series that received nine nominations overall. Distributed by Disney+ in Australia, Dying for Sex is a drama comedy about Molly, who has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer and makes the decision to leave her husband of 15 years and fully explore her sexuality.

Julio Himede (Design, 1999) nominated for Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special for The 67th Annual Grammy Awards. This is Julio’s fourth Emmy Nomination in a row acknowledging his exceptional work designing the Grammy Awards each year.

Michael Wilkinson (Design, 1993) nominated for Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes for Disney’s Star Wars: Andor. Taking place before the events of Rogue One, the series follows the eponymous Cassian Andor, a thief that joins the burgeoning Rebel Alliance in opposition of the Galactic Empire. You can see more of Michael’s designs for Season 1 and Season 2.
