Hi, I’m Ebony Smith! I’m a 19-year-old multidisciplinary artist with a passion for transformation. I specialise in hair, makeup and special effects, bringing characters to life through my detailed and imaginative designs. My foundation in the craft was shaped and paved through my training at NIDA in Screen and Media (Specialist Make-Up Services) course, where I developed strong technical skills alongside learning creative approaches to storytelling my visions and others through visual design. What sets me apart is my background as a performer. I am also a singer, dancer and actor, and my deep love for the theatre is at the heart of everything I do.

Having spent time on stage and screen myself, I understand the emotional and physical journey an actor goes through. This perspective really allows me to connect with performers on a unique level. I see hair and makeup not just as a visual element but as vital tools to help an actor embody their character and feel confident in their roles.

Whether I’m designing a bold glam look for stage or subtle realism for screen or even working with prosthetics and special effects for a transformative work, I always approach my craft with precision, collaboration and care. I thrive in a creative environment where storytelling is key and enjoy the collaborative process of creating, building and becoming characters from the ground up. I am continually inspired by the endless possibilities within this field, and I always want to bring my passion, curiosity and performer’s empathy to every project I have the opportunity to work on.
