Ben Tannous has worked in the Australian television industry since 2007, first as an entertainment lawyer, then as a business affairs executive, and now as a screenwriter. As a lawyer and business affairs executive, he has worked on the production of over a hundred television series while working at Foxtel, Network Ten, Banijay-Screentime, ITV Studios Australia, and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
In 2017, he pitched crime thriller Underbelly Files: Chopper to Banijay-Screentime, who produced it as a TV mini-series for the Nine Network Australia, and he worked on the development of an outlaw bikie gang drama at Banijay-Screentime for Network Ten. In 2018, Ben made the leap into screenwriting full-time to study, write and develop original and adapted feature films and television series. He has pitched originals and adaptations to SBS, ABC, ITV Studios Australia, Jungle Entertainment, Matchbox / NBC Universal, Playmaker Media / Curio Pictures / Sony, and Easy Tiger Productions, and submitted to CBS Television Studios in the US.
He has studied at the Australian Film Television and Radio School and completed multiple short courses at the Actors Centre Australia, Edinburgh University in Scotland, and online. Starting 2024, he is studying a Master of Fine Arts (Dramatic Writing) at the National Institute of Dramatic Art. Ben has a love of sitcom, drama, thrillers, and the sports genre. His goal is to write feature films and television series and one day be the showrunner of an original TV series of his own.
