Kayla is a Sydney-based singer and actress, drawing inspiration from her Lebanese-Australian roots and a deep love for storytelling. Stumbling across a blurry YouTube video of the cult classic musical Heathers (definitely not age-appropriate for her grade 8 self), she was instantly hooked – a theatre kid from that moment on. From there, she auditioned for every school production she could, playing roles such as Catherine in Pippin at St Joseph’s College (2023) and Dot in Sydney Grammar’s production of Sunday in the Park with George (2024).
After graduating high school, Kayla undertook NIDA’s Diploma of Musical Theatre. She performed in the NIDA Parade Theatre, as part of the ensemble for NIDA’s production of Nine, directed by Dean Drieberg, and in the DMT 2025 Showcase directed by Darren Yap and Brittanie Shipway.
Kayla believes that by embracing a spirit of experimentation and openness to new ideas, she can continue to develop her craft and connect with audiences in exciting ways. She hopes that some fuzzy video of her performing will be uploaded to YouTube and inspire another generation of storytellers, just as that fateful Heathers bootleg did for her all those years ago.
