File Naming Guide

To ensure your application is correctly identified and processed, all uploaded application files must follow a standard naming format.

Please read this guide carefully before submitting your application documents.

All files must be named using the following structure:

lastname_firstname_ APPLICATIONREFERENCE_year_documenttype

Example: smith_jane_BFAACT_2027_portfolio

All file names must include:

• Names in lowercase, APPLICATIONREFERENCE in uppercase, intake year, no spaces or special characters, document type last.
• Use underscores (_) between all elements.

Each course has a unique code that must be included in your file name.

You can find this code (normally 3 – 6 characters) on your course requirements page.

Examples may include BFADFP, BFAACT, and DSMS.

You must use the correct document type. These are listed below. Do not modify or create variations.

• portfolio
• audition
• photoid
• qualification
• statement
• project

Correct file naming examples:

• smith_jane_DSMS_2027_portfolio
• smith_jane_BFAACT_2027_audition
• smith_jane_MFADIR_2027_photoid
• smith_jane_BFACOS_2027_qualification

Each file must be uploaded separately in the correct section of your application.

Incorrect file names may delay processing or identification of your documents.

Do not include additional words such as “final”, “updated”, or “version”.
