Picture this: it’s 5am in Sydney and 3-year-old Tom discovers he doesn’t need Mum to get him out of bed anymore. Where does he go? The dress-up box. He’s been dreaming about his sister’s fairy princess costume. 

Ever since, Tom has been an artist. Whether painting, dancing, singing in the shower or performing all manner of acting roles during school, from sheep three to Captain Von Trapp. A versatile actor from day one. 

While slogging it through an unfinished Bachelor of Arts degree at Sydney University, Tom escaped by joining its student theatre society. There, he made lifelong friends and collaborators, not just as an actor but as a writer and dramaturg, enriching his love for storytelling and sharpening his creativity on a bare-bones budget.  

Now in the NIDA BFA, Tom knows with absolute conviction what the 3-year-old Tom always did: acting is where he is meant to be.
