A designer’s job isn’t to make people think, but to make them feel. 

Shay is a Perth born production designer with a background in Acting, Dance and Mechatronic Engineering. 

Prior to his studies at NIDA, he worked as a professional performer and an automation engineer in Perth’s live production industry and has brought his understanding of the performer’s experience and technical skills to his design practice, and has since developed his abstract thinking and costume design skills to become a skilled all-rounder who loves to vary his practice with different kinds of jobs in different types of media, with a particular interest in MT, film, and television. 

Shay is a hands on, practically minded designer who approaches each of his designs with a technical lens and a keen eye for designs that balance the inventive with the practical, and a focus on provoking deep seated emotional responses in all viewers.
