Renny Wijeyamohan

Renny Wijeyamohan is a Tamil-Australian writer, director and producer. His projects have received award nominations at the AACTA, Rose D’Or and C21 International Drama awards and have premiered both locally and internationally. As the child of Tamil immigrants, who fled Sri Lanka’s longrunning Civil War, his work is interested in exploring themes of belonging, identity and power – and he is interested in stories that place ordinary people in extraordinary situations. In 2022, he was commissioned by SBS for his documentary RUN GIRL, which was later acquired by Stan.

In 2023, he launched his first broadcast drama THE DISPOSABLES for ABC alongside Karen Radzyner and Sonia Whiteman. In 2024, he was selected to be a part of Series Mania’s Writers Campus in France for his TV series SCALPEL, co-created with Sonia Whiteman, and in 2025, took part in the Platform Development Lab at Sydney Film Festival.

He completed an internship at See-Saw Films under Emile Sherman, Rachel Gardner and Libby Sharpe, and is currently working with Photoplay Films’ Karen Radzyner on the UK-AU co-production of SONG OF THE SUN GOD – an adaptation of Miles-Franklin award winning author, Shankari Chandran’s novel, currently in development.
