Mercurius Yousif

Mercurius, known to friends as Merc, is a 22-year-old Sydney-based creative of Egyptian heritage whose work spans performance, design, and immersive experience-making. Across stage, studio, and everyday life, they are driven by a deep curiosity about how experiences are crafted, shared, and felt.

Storytelling sits at the centre of Mercurius’s practice. For them, theatre represents a unique space where human complexity can be transformed into something immediate, shared, and emotionally resonant. This fascination with performance is grounded in a broader interest in how stories connect people across time, place, and perspective.

Alongside their work in performance, Mercurius has completed a Bachelor of Architecture, bringing a cross-disciplinary lens to their creative practice. Their understanding of space, structure, and design informs the way they think about atmosphere, movement, and audience experience, bridging the worlds of architecture and storytelling.

Outside of formal study and theatre-making, Mercurius is drawn to live entertainment, theme parks, and immersive environments, with a particular interest in how design shapes emotional engagement and collective experience.

Curious, analytical, and creatively driven, Mercurius is eager to continue exploring where performance and design intersect, and where this ongoing creative journey might lead next.
