Having been born to Sri Lankan parents in Australia, raised in Singapore and having spent his high school days and beyond in Sydney, telling people where Kavan is from has been a very difficult question.
While he formerly discovered acting in my boarding school’s musical in Sydney, shocking his parents by coming on and pretending to be the legs of a pool table, he considered his first performance to be my Grandfathers Sinhala drama, put on in his ancestral house in Colombo with my cousins when I was five, where I played the part of a potato.
Having since graduated with numerous high school productions under his belt and landing a role in the Paramount Plus miniseries Playing Gracie Darling (2025) he continues his training at NIDA.
