Having been born to Sri Lankan parents in Australia, raised in Singapore and having spent his high school days and beyond in Sydney, telling people where Kavan is from has consistently been a very difficult question.
While he formerly discovered acting in his boarding school’s musical in Sydney, shocking his parents by coming on and pretending to be the legs of a pool table, he considered his first performance to be his Grandfather’s Sinhala drama, put on in his ancestral house in Colombo with his cousins when he was five, where he played the part of a potato.
Having since implemented his ability to move and speak into his work, graduating with numerous high school productions under his belt and landing a role in the Paramount Plus miniseries Playing Gracie Darling (2025) Kavan continues his training at NIDA.
