Raised in Wollongong, Karamea enjoys the creativity to create from nothing more than a concept, choosing to pursue a career in the costume industry by completing a Certificate III in Fashion Design at TAFE and Bachelor of Fine Arts (Costume) at NIDA to develop her skills in patternmaking, cutting, tailoring, draping, art finishing, dressing and supervising.
With a particular fascination with fabric manipulation, she enjoys testing the limits of conventional costume techniques, experimenting with various methods to enhance the overall visual of the costume.
Karamea has industry experience dressing for Love Actually: The Musical Parody, and recently completed a secondment with Opera Australia in the Art Finishing Department, and is passionate to apply and expand her knowledge of costume construction and design in both film and theatre.
