Jonathan Hartley

Home Profile Jonathan Hartley

Jonathan Hartley

Jonathon is an emerging set builder from Sydney, living on Dharug Country, who strives to enhance creative spaces in ways that are imaginative, dynamic, and innovative.

He has previously worked in diverse roles for community theatre groups, indie film projects, and university productions. Many of these projects were balanced alongside working commitments where he would frequently learn lines during daily commutes to and from the worksite.

These diverse experiences across creative and practical disciplines have allowed him to develop an insightful and organic interest in building for the Arts.

Through exploring this interest, set building has become an opportunity for him to synthesise both his creative problem-solving skills and passion for stagecraft.

Since studying with NIDA, he has refined his ability to work as a skilled craftsman and has built a strong foundational knowledge of CAD software, project management, joinery, automation, steel fabrication, rigging, and scenic construction.
