Where to Watch NIDA Alumni in April 2024

With a small-town comedy, a suburban drama and even an intergalactic thriller in this lineup, there’s no shortage of entertainment to enjoy this April. Here’s where you can see some of NIDA's alumni on the screen, behind-the-scenes and on stage:

Population: 11 is now streaming on Stan featuring the comedic talents of Rick Donald (Acting, 2009), Katrina Milosevic (Acting, 1997) and Darren Gilshenan (Acting, 1988). Population 11 is the story of an American searching for his estranged father in an Australian outback town, uncovering disturbing mysteries amidst small-town antics.

The highly anticipated adaptation of 3 Body Problem is now available to watch on Netflix with the expertise of production designer Deborah Riley (Design, 1996) and costume designer Michael Wilkinson (Design, 1993). The renowned sci-fi series blends science, mystery, and intergalactic intrigue into a heart-pounding event that asks the question, ‘What if we aren’t alone in the universe?’

3 Body Problem Still

Henry Nixon (Acting, 2000),  Linda Cropper (Acting, 1978), and Nathaniel Dean (Acting, 1999) shine in the eight-part mystery thriller High Country, now available on Binge. Set against the stunning backdrop of rural Victoria, High Country is the story of an outsider cop who is thrust into a baffling, high-stakes investigation after the mysterious disappearance of five people.

Free to watch on ABC iview, House of Gods is an addictive six-part drama series featuring the talents of Alyssa Peters (Acting, 2022) and Isabelle Nader (Acting, 2020). The series delves into the intricate dynamics of an imam's family and community, exposing the corrupting influence of power and ambition amidst a scandal that divides a tight-knit religious community in Western Sydney.

NIDA alumni in Holding the Man

Turning to live theatre, Holding the Man has found its stage at Belvoir St Theatre almost 20 years since it premiered. Co-starring alumni Danny Ball (Acting, 2016) and Guy Simon (Acting 2010) and adapted by playwright Tommy Murphy (Directing, 2004), Holding the Man is a deeply felt and moving love story, capturing an enduring bond between two men; brought to life in a poignant new production on the Australian stage. The play also features behind-the-scenes creatives including Set Designer Stephen Curtis (Design, 1978), Lighting Designer Phoebe Pilcher (Design, 2020) and Vocal and Accent Coach Laura Farrell (Voice, 2020).

Catch The Lewis Trilogy at the SBW Stables Theatre, as the Griffin Theatre Company presents three iconic plays written by Louis Nowra.
