Attracting the likes of NIDA alumni Hugh Sheridan, Remy Hii, Sonia Todd, Honey Debelle, Paige Gardiner and Heather Mitchell, as well as friends and supporters from across the arts and entertainment, the celebration was an appropriately theatrical occasion complete with fantastic performances by NIDA’s talented students and graduates.
After strolling down the grass ‘red’ carpet, guests were invited into a spectacular world inspired by the classic Australian backyard party, complete with a gourmet version of the Aussie barbeque, served up by the team from Matt Moran’s Aria restaurant.
Among the performances on the night were a breathtaking aerial display, a very Aussie tap dance as well as a playful medley featuring NIDA Music Theatre students and guest performances by Paige Gardiner and Christian Charisiou.
NIDA Director/CEO, Lynne Williams welcomed all the guests and commented how wonderful it was to celebrate NIDA’s achievements of the past year with all of the centre’s supporters.
“This has been another successful year for NIDA with a number of exciting changes, as well as wonderful work by our students and guest artists. Not only did we introduce the new Bachelor of Fine Arts courses and the Diploma of Musical Theatre, we were also fortunate enough to work with a number of visiting artists from Australia and around the world who shared their extensive industry experience with our students.” commented Lynne Williams.
Chair of the NIDA Foundation Trust, Peter Ivany AM also paid tribute to all who have supported the centre throughout the years as well as welcoming new friends.
The celebration signalled a great end to another year at NIDA, with everyone raising a glass to the future success of Australia’s leading performing arts institution.
