NIDA Wins Organisation of The Year Award at Screen Well Awards.

Announced as part of World Mental Health Day (10 October), NIDA was awarded Organisation of the Year at the inaugural Screen Well Awards for its holistic approach towards staff and student wellbeing across the organisation, as well as a high level of reporting and measurement of outcomes.

Screen Well founder Ben Steel said. ‘These awards were created to recognise, champion and celebrate the improvements being made to mental health and wellbeing in the screen industry by our colleagues, and all of the recipients for the 2023 Screen Well Awards have done extraordinary work across our industry to improve mental health and wellbeing this year.’

NIDA Senior Counsellor Kareena Hodgson said ‘Thank you, Screen Well for this wonderful recognition. This award acts as a reminder for us at NIDA and the wider industry to continue to strive for a positive mental health culture, and to shift the practice and attitudes of future artists to continue to strengthen and improve mental health outcomes in our Entertainment Industry. We proudly accept this award and will use it as momentum to continue to create and improve wellbeing processes.’

Screen Well is the Australian Screen Sector’s mental health and wellbeing destination hub. A social enterprise established in 2022 to deliver a range of best practice industry specific resources, initiatives, and workshops that are designed to help improve mental health outcomes for the Australian screen industry.

The Screen Well Awards recognise and celebrate wellbeing initiatives and innovations in the screen industry. This helps raise awareness of the great work being done to improve mental health outcomes for screen industry workers and workplaces.

Nominations for the Screen Well Awards were self-submitted or nominated by a third party for categories of Advocate, Initiative, Production and Organisation. Each submission provided details and supporting documentation based on its category’s criteria. The submissions were then scored by the judges independently to retain objectivity and were based solely on the information provided. The highest overall score for each category determined the award recipient.
