The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) is delighted to announce it is accepting applications for the 2019 intake to its world-class higher education performing arts courses. ‘As always, we are looking for passion and commitment, and know that this runs deep in aspiring artists and creative professionals, so we encourage them to find out more about our courses, and understand what NIDA can offer them on their creative journey as they pursue their dreams,’ commented NIDA Director/CEO Kate Cherry.

As the organisation adapts to a constantly shifting and growing industry, there are greater opportunities than ever before for those looking to pursue a career in creative and cultural industries, with accredited Vocational Diploma, Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees.

‘NIDA is both leader and inspirer, both culturally and creatively,’ said Cherry, pointing to the recent ranking in the Hollywood Reporter which placed NIDA in the top 10 of the world’s drama schools.

‘NIDA continues to focus on being a truly multi-dimensional institution, as we strive to innovate and collaborate for the future of Australia’s  and the world’s  creative and cultural industries,’ said Cherry.

In addition to its Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) course, NIDA provides degrees in Costume (costume-making), Design for Performance, Properties and Objects (props-making), Scenic Construction and Technologies, and Technical Theatre and Stage Management.

Master of Fine Arts degrees are offered in Cultural Leadership, Design for Performance, Directing, Voice (voice teaching) and Writing for Performance, which are all delivered in the NIDA Graduate School building.

Accredited Vocational Diplomas are also offered in Live Production and Technical Services, Musical Theatre, Screen and Media (Specialist Make-up Services), and Stage and Screen Performance.

‘NIDA is constantly collaborating with international and Australian artists in our program, particularly in our Play Productions Seasons held each year in June and October. Not only do we have exemplary training know-how, we also have award-winning facilities, expert teaching staff and guest lecturers, as well as a unique balance of theoretical and practical training and much more.’
