There are a number of fellowships and awards open to NIDA graduates and industry practitioners to assist them to further their skills and experience or develop their practice through additional work or study opportunities in Australia and abroad.
NIDA X
Grants of up to $10,000 are being offered to NIDA alumni through the new NIDA X program, supported by The Girgensohn Foundation, Patrons of the program. NIDA alumni are invited to pitch ideas for projects that push the boundaries of storytelling and technology.
STC and NIDA Pathways Commission
NIDA and Sydney Theatre Company (STC) are proud to announce a new pathway for NIDA writing graduates, supported by the Longes Family. The STC and NIDA Pathways Commission will enable a theatrical work to be developed and considered for future production.
The Gloria Payten and Gloria Dawn Fellowships
NIDA administers The Gloria Dawn and Gloria Payten Fellowships on behalf of the trustees of the Gloria Dawn and Gloria Payten Foundations. These annual Fellowships of up to $18,000 offer talented professional actors and directors in theatre, film, and television the chance to explore and develop their artistic pursuits through international travel and study.
The Mike Walsh Fellowship
Applications for the The Mike Walsh Fellowship will open in August 2023, which will see $70,000 awarded in 2023. This Fellowship is open to NIDA graduates of the last 10 years. However, graduate’s are not eligible to apply within the two years following their last year of study.
Loudon Sainthill Travelling Fellowship
Administered by NIDA, the Loudon Sainthill Travelling Fellowship is designed to support the international travel of a young Australian designer in hopes they are able to further their expertise in design.
The Freddie J Gibson Fellowship
The Freddie J Gibson Fellowship is a new award designed to enable and empower NIDA Alumni Directors to embark on life-changing international learning opportunities. The Fellowship is worth up to $30,000 to cover travel, accommodation and other expenses.
