NIDA congratulates the alumni who were recognised by their peers and awarded top honours at the Sydney Theatre Awards.
With NIDA graduates well-represented in both cast and crew categories across the board, the following took home an award for mainstage productions:
Hugo Weaving took out the Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Endgame.
John Howard wowed audiences and critics alike with his supporting role in Ivanov.
Nominated twice in this category, Alice Babidge won Best Costume Design for her work on Suddenly Last Summer.
The following alumni were recognised for their work on independent productions:
Thomas Campbell won Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Misterman.
Michael Hankin took out Best Stage Design for his work on Of Mice and Men.
Nate Edmondson’s work was recognised for Best Score and Sound Design for Misterman.
NIDA Director/CEO, Lynne Williams was delighted to see NIDA graduates acknowledged by Sydney’s vibrant theatre community.
“Congratulations from all at NIDA to our alumni who continue to lead the way in creativity and innovation within the theatre industry,” commented Ms Williams.
“It has been a big year for Sydney theatre, with fantastic productions from both established and independent theatre companies. It is wonderful to see NIDA graduates within these creative collaborations and producing work of the highest level.”
