NIDA alumni Bonnie Sveen and Remy Hii are among the winners of this year's TV Week Logie Awards.

Bonnie Sveen won the Logie for Most Popular Newcomer for her role as Ricky Sharpe on Channel Seven's Home and Away, while Remy Hii took out the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer for his performance in the SBS mini-series Better Man, beating fellow nominee and NIDA alumnus Meyne Wyatt.

NIDA Director and CEO Lynne Williams congratulated them on their awards and said it was exciting to see NIDA graduates recognised for their talent and outstanding performances on Australia television.

“We are very proud to congratulate NIDA alumni and Logie winners Bonnie Sveen and Remy Hii. They are just two of our more recent graduates making their mark on the Australian screen industry."

NIDA alumnus Essie Davis was also nominated for the highly prized Gold Logie and Most Popular Actress for her outstanding role in the ABC’s Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries.

Two NIDA graduates were nominated for Most Popular Actor – Hugh Sheridan for his role as Ben Rafter in Packed to the Rafters and Matthew Le Nevez who is better known as Dr Patrick Reid in Offspring.

“The many NIDA acting graduates recognised through these awards represent only the tip of the iceberg. As Australia’s leading centre for education and training in theatre, television and film, NIDA continues to produce directors, writers, designers and technical theatre practitioners who are also winning acclaim,” Lynne Williams said.
