About Jake

Jake Parker (he/him) is a writer, editor, and dramaturg. Working between Naarm and Gadigal land, his character-based stories grapple with dysfunctional realities and sinister desires.

In 2021, Jake graduated a BA in Creative Writing from RMIT. There he developed a portfolio of memoir essays and short stories whilst also working as a fiction reader for literary journal Overland. Now with a keen interest in playwriting, Jake’s short play Splash has been commissioned by ATYP to be featured in the 2024 Intersection Festival.

Jake aims to break through the theatre landscape with comedic and tender stories that make audiences think: ‘What is taboo in the landscape of desire?’

His next step forward is to establish connections with more indie theatre makers. From there, he hopes to showcase his passion for striking visuals, enigmatic characters, and gays doing terrible things–all of which are featured in his debut play Blue Heart Emoji.
