NIDA acknowledges the Traditional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which we learn and tell stories, the Bidjigal, Gadigal, Dharawal and Dharug peoples, and we pay our respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present.
Ruby Jenkins is a multidisciplinary designer working across Adelaide and Sydney. Her practice is founded in a rigorous and sensitive collaborative process. Her designs bring together deep research and understanding with a witty, playful theatricality.
Credits at NIDA include her role as Costume Designer for the musical Falsettos (Directed by David Berthold) as part of NIDA’s 2022 June Production season and her role as set and costume designer on Seven Days of Silence for NIDA’s Festival of Emerging Artists (Directed by Nicholas Bradshaw). Ruby has also undertaken screen industry placements on The Twelve and Furiosa, and a live performance industry placement with Patch Theatre in Adelaide.
During her time at NIDA Ruby has particularly relished her time on projects like her Triple J Unearthed Music Video Say It To My Face (directed by Chinmaya Madan), and short film Kelly (Directed by Kathleen Kershaw). In a Co – Developer and Production Design role on both these projects she was able to contribute to telling unique stories about the female experience and present them in an authentic yet still dynamic and playful way. Ruby looks forward to continuing to create opportunities like these in her future.
