NIDA acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we learn and tell stories, the Bidjigal people. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

We also wish to acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across this country's sacred homelands, and in particular, students and other First Nations members of the NIDA community.

Olivia Rowlands

Olivia grew up on a farming property in the Central Tablelands of NSW, and discovered her love for visual storytelling and performance design whilst studying Drama and Visual Art during the HSC.
In 2017 Olivia worked as a Co-Art Director for the short film The Horrific Murder of Grigori Rasputin, her first introduction to film which opened her eyes to the highly collaborative and creative realm of filmmaking.
In 2018, Olivia travelled to New York to work with Julio Himede Design as Design Assistant for the concept development phase for events such as the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards and the 2019 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, and worked onset for VH1’s Trailblazers Award Show. Olivia enjoyed the experience of working on large scale productions. Olivia also designed the triple J Unearthed music video Little Heart by Go Get Mum and co-designed the short film Optics with her NIDA Design peers.
Olivia also designed Delta Sierra Juliet, her graduating show, directed by Darcy Green (MFA Directing). Collaboration is central to Olivia’s artistic practice, and she looks forward to working with versatility in the fields of theatre, film and television throughout her career.
