Mark was born in the Philippines and migrated to the south east suburbs of Melbourne at the age of four. He had his first taste of performing when he became involved in a community theatre production that aimed to raise financial aid for rural villages back in his motherland. Prior to NIDA, Mark completed a Bachelor of Performing Arts at Monash University which allowed him to experiment with directing, writing, dramaturgy and other performance-based mediums. His time at NIDA has helped him continue to cultivate his artistry, and he has partaken in projects outside of the course ranging from collaboratively producing and developing short films and web series, to representing the acting cohort on the student council. As a reflection of his history and identity, Mark is passionate about representation in national and international media, and particularly wishes to nurture more racially diverse, queer, and low socio-economic stories on our stages and screens.
