About the projects
Kinetik Collective from South Australia and Victoria
Causal Nexus is a semi-improvised tech performance work by the Kinetik Collective, exploring the entanglement of bodies and technology. The work places dancers, musicians and computers within a feedback loop, where actions continuously affect and reshape the system. It explores a world in which the boundaries between human and machine become uncertain.
Kenneth Craig Lambert from South Africa and New South Wales
Without A Trace is a mesmerising live media art performance by media artist Kenneth Lambert. Using contact microphones and movement sensors, Lambert draws, erases and rebuilds an image as robotic vacuums systematically intervene in the process.
Structured through acts of creation, erasure and co-creation, the work examines automation, cultural memory and the instability of authorship. Without a Trace was commissioned for Edge X Biennale of Sydney 2024.
RAPP Lab from Australian Capital Territory
Bodies in Dialogue is an experimental work by the Robots, Arts, People and Performance (RAPP) Lab at the University of Canberra, in which a performer tells a story through physical-theatre-based interaction with a collaborative robot arm. The robot runs a neural network that watches the performer’s body through a depth camera and generates its own movement in real time. Through phone-based votes, the audience can also interact with the performer, steer the robot and collectively shape the story, forming a human-robot ensemble.
