Loretta Sancataldo

Loretta commenced at NIDA in 2023 and specialises in technical production services. She has considerable experience as a professional stage manager working at venues including The Sydney Opera House, The Capitol Theatre, The Ensemble Theatre and Carriageworks as well as outdoor events including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Loretta is an experienced theatre technician and she can often be found operating a counterweight fly system, rigging, bumping in sets or operating audio and lighting equipment.

Loretta has always had an interest in training future technical practitioners and became a qualified trainer in 2011 and since been involved in training from Certificate III to Diploma levels. Loretta is a SafeWork Authorised Trainer for the General Induction Training (GIT) or White Card.

Loretta’s interest in research in theatre practice led to her thesis titled Is there more to GO? The performative role of the contemporary theatre stage manager for her Master of Applied Theatre Studies (UNE). Other qualifications include a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Technical Production) (UOW), Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAFE) and Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) (UNE).
