NIDAnights: Performance and Technology with Experimenta
Venue: NIDA Melbourne | Suite 4 | 152 Sturt Street, Southbank, VIC 3006
Date/Time: 16 Aug 2018 - 16 Aug 2018
Curated by Experimenta Media Arts in collaboration with NIDA, this Experimenta Social special looks at how artists are using technology in performance. Technology is transforming traditional approaches to the craft of scenography and is also opening up new pathways for audience engagement. Projection and data mapping are just some components of the expanding toolkit at the disposal of today’s set designers, while digital platforms are allowing for direct personal interaction with individual audience members. Join us as we present two artists who through their practice are opening up new possibilities in the creation of performance worlds.

Experimenta is Australia’s pre-eminent media arts organisation. We showcase dynamic and challenging contemporary art that intersects with digital media, science and technology, and design. We lead industry discussion and grow audiences for media art. Experimenta is an incubator for experimentation, challenges convention, celebrates the maverick, and encourages collaboration.
Established in 1986 by experimental film and video makers, Experimenta has been instrumental in the development of Australian media art from an underground cultural phenomenon to a celebrated form recognised by major cultural institutions, and growing in scope and sophistication. Melbourne based, with a national and global reach, Experimenta commissions, presents and advocates for Australian artists.
